A Week of Welcoming

UC Irvine Welcome Week 2015:

The 2015-2016 school year started with a bang as UC Irvine welcomed more than 5,000 incoming freshman students. The festivities began with UC Irvine’s annual Anteater Involvement Fair (AIF) in Aldrich Park. This year the AIF hosted 600+ groups, clubs, businesses, and organizations, one of which was our very own Facilities Management Sustainability Team. Our student-led sustainability

team interacted with more than 500 students to educate them on the importance of recycling and water conservation at UCI. Additionally, a research survey on student attitudes towards recycling was distributed in hopes that the results will highlight missed opportunities that can increase everyday recycling habits for students. Students who took the time to talk to us and learn about recycling and water conservation were given a free recycling tote bags, reusable coffee mugs, or a recycled pencil. All in all, the team had a successful start to the school year.

Keep a look out for our booth on Ring Road during Week 2!
