E-Waste

What happens next.

Many electronics have useful and reusable materials such as copper, steel, gold, or silver. Cellphones alone contain gold and silver, as well as platinum, palladium, copper, and tin and zinc that can be used to make jewlery or new electronics. Many old computer parts can even be reused in fixing seperate computers as well.

UCI works with Peter's Exchange to dispose of e-waste. They have drop off hours for your convenience and you are also welcome to fill out a Surplus Pick Up Form for larger items or a larger quanity of items:

19182 Jamboree Road (Jamboree and Birch) Irvine, CA 92697

(949) 824-6447

Facilities such as EZPC Recycle also offer a free drop-off location: 2518 W 5th St, Santa Ana, CA 92703

They also do pick ups: (714) 569-0322

Who you can contact.

There are electronic waste facilities that allow "drop-offs", or even purchase electronic waste. Many of these facilities specify in recycling or repurposing specific waste items to avoid their disposal into landfills.

At our year-end movement during move-out for housing, much of our e-waste is taken to good-will.
